The HiSET® is an equivalency diploma that replaces the GED program. An equivalency diploma can be earned by passing a five-part exam in the areas of writing, social studies, science, literature and mathematics. Visit

Students will complete preparation activities in Writing, Reading, Science and Social Studies skills. Much of each class will focus on reading strategies, writing mechanics and essay development. The class has a relaxed atmosphere in which students work at their own pace.

college & career
This course is designed to explore the tools and strategies needed to succeed in college. Participants will have exposure to a range of college success strategies including communication, critical thinking, time management and problem solving skills.
Students will become acquainted with the University of Maine and community colleges as they clarify personal values, goals and expectations. This is a University of Maine Augusta three-credit course.
